Usual Suspects

Kickboxing Classics – The Usual Suspects only one week away

In less than one week we have the biggest show ever put on by the Kickboxing Classics promotional team, this time entitled The Usual Suspects.  It has been lots of hard work to make this show what we wanted the fans to see, the very best full contact kickboxing in the in Europe, with some massive titles on the line and we are delighted to bring it to the Lincolnshire Showground.

Firstly we would like to welcome the French team for flying over to compete on one of our shows for the first time.

Once again we start the show with the amateurs but then move on the very best professional kickboxers in the world.

Kicking off the show and looking for his first victory is Mason Coult, fighting out of Intenz Martial Arts in Lincoln.  On Saturday he faces debutant Liam Vose from MSD Evolution.

Ben Cottard is the first fighter up for Lincoln KBA.  Ben is flash, sharp, awkward and very powerful for his size, this kid could really go all the way.  Satursday is his chance to prove it when he meets Barnsley’s Kennan Dixon.

Lincoln KBA’s knock out king Michael ‘One Bomb’ Rudd also returns to the ring after 18 months out. There has been lots of talk in the build up with his fight against King’s Lynn’s Josh Mann, with both men appearing very confident ahead of their boxing rules bout.  Both fighters are undefeated, so someone’s ‘0’ had to go.

We also see Lincoln KBA’s Craig Rainey stepping up from the gym shows for his first taste of the big time.  Craig has shown lot’s of progress and a pleasing dedication over the last few months, including a very impressive first round knockout in his last bout.  On Saturday he battles for local pride against Rokas Venskus from fellow Lincoln gym Ultimate Martial Arts.

We have a nice rematch on the card on Saturday also.  Popular hometown fighter Karl Trice looks to put defeat in France behind him and do the double of talented Wolverhampton fighter James Quintyne.  These two went toe to toe earlier this year with Karl taking the win.  If this fight is anything like their first encounter we are in for a real treat.

The first title up for grabs is the ISKA Junior British title between two of the countries most talent youngsters around.  Lincoln KBA’s Jack Deakin is in sensational form at the minute beating everybody in front of him.  On Saturday he steps up a level and comes up against Ben Exley from Impact Martial Arts in Middlesbrough.  Ben has a good reputation and is from a very well schooled gym, this will have fans on the edge of their seats.

Shawn Burton will make his return to the Kickboxing Classic’s card on Saturday.  The difficulty of promoting and fighting on the same card exposed Burton’s weakness’ last year and he vowed that unless massive changes were made he would never fight on one of his shows again, but thanks to Adam Butler and Lee Swaby joining the coaching ranks on a full time basis, Burton’s training has stepped up a level and he is more than pleased to be back.  Shawn will fight the hungry Edward Bettison on Saturday.  The Wolverhampton man has only ever been beat by top level fighters and hopefully Shawn can add his name to that list with  victory on Saturday.

The first international fight is between two very talent ladies. Stevenage’s Stacey Parker has a host of titles to her name including the ISKA European title and is pushing for further honours, victory over French Champion Céline Carrere could bring that title fight even closer.

Making his debut for Lincoln KBA is multiple British champion  Chris Deakin.  We are never one to take the easy option when picking fights for our own fighters and Saturday is no different.  Chris was due to fight current European and Belgium champion Farid Hakimi, but injury struck two weeks ago and French champion Ronsse Christoper was drafted in.  Last week injury struck again and it looked like Chris would be left without an opponent.  Frantic calls to Poland, Ireland and Norway were made, but then Aaron Robinson offered to change his opponent and step up in weight, so Chris now fights Alain Lebrun from France, Aarons original opponent.

Aaron Robinson lost his last bout for European title in June after being on a 4 fight winning streak and planning on facing French star Lebrun this weekend.  But after negotiation’s and with the show’s interest’s at heart Aaron agreed to step up a weight to face former amateur World champion and MMA technician Dan ‘OTT’ Winstanley from Bournemouth.

The final fight of the night see’s Tom Scutt challenging for his third belt , this time the prestigious ISKA Commonwealth title.  He was due to face current European Champion Dean Petty from Sunderland, who pulled out injury, luckily Gary Jowers and his boys from Scorpio Gym in Middlesbrough stepped up to the plate and Tom now has an even tougher task when he faces the more double British champion Glen Coleman.

There is still chance to get hold of tickets which are priced at £20 for adults, £15 for under 16’s and there is a handful of VIP tickets priced at £40, so please call Shawn on 07900932690.

The show will also feature performances from talent musician Stephan Henwood and the girls at Pole Therapy Fitness.
