Kickboxing Classics – New Blood results
Good morning fight fans, sorry for the late report on the latest Kickboxing Classics show at the Lincoln Fight Factory, but as you can imagine it’s a bit hectic at Lincoln’s most successful martial arts centre.
The show, sanctioned by Dean Sugden and his JFCC team of officials was another great night, seeing 10 evenly matched bouts featuring some of the hottest kids on the kickboxing circuit, finishing with a couple of novice senior bouts to end the night.
Gyms travelled from all over the country, with Grand Master Goff’s MASAC Gym coming all the way from County Durham, Newark Martial Arts, Grimsby Martial Arts Academy, M1K in Derby, Slaughterhouse in Hull, Bullwell Fight Factory in Nottingham and 7KS Chikara in Scunthorpe.
A packed crowd enjoyed cheap beer, great food and some fantastic fights matched very evenly on age, weight and experience to make the fights as close and fair as possible.
Highlights of the night were Lincoln KBA’s very own Karl Trice winning his debut fight for the club against the heavier, taller and more experienced Jamie Miles from MASAC, the explosive ‘demonstration’ bout between Lincoln KBA club mates Dayle Barnaby and Craig Rainey. Their opponents pulled out on the day of the event and it was decided that we would still let them fight against each other for all of their hard training they had put in and as expected, this was fight of the night, with Craig scoring a knock down in the final round.
A special mention must go to MASAC’s Harry Carmichael and Lincoln KBA’s Ben Cottard. Harry fought twice on the night, firstly beating Newark Martial Art’s Jack Jenkinson and then earning his second draw with Lincoln KBA’s junior sensation Wikotr Gornicki. These two have fought twice and drawn twice, maybe a third fight on our next show (Kickboxing Classics – KO Factor) will pick a winner?
Ben Cottard returned to the ring after 3 years out, making his debut for Lincoln KBA, giving away 4kgs in weight away when he met Newark’s Ryan Bennett. We wouldn’t usually allow this weight difference but Ben took the fight at 2 hours notice to help the evening out.
