Team England all make weight in New York

McCanns Bar in Long Island, New York was the scene for last nights weigh ins for the fights between Team America and Team England, with all the fighters coming in order the weight limits and all looking in great shape and looking extremely confident at the face off photos.

The team have been inching to jump on the scales since they arrived in New York on Thursday morning and walking round Manhatton yesterday with all the fantastic street food and bars wouldn’t have made weight cutting any easier, but all the fighters have been very professional in the build up and kept food and drink intake down to a minimum to ensure that no extra weight loss measures had to be taken after the first weigh in.

Craig Rainey hit the scales at 137lbs, with his opponent Elvis Camejo coming in bang on the 140lbs limit for their International Boxing Title fight.

Matt Kennedy came in at a career low of 159lbs and his opponent Travis Mason came in slightly heavier at 161lbs.

Rob Love is just getting lighter and lighter these days, coming in at 148lbs and Michael Calvin was 146lbs.

Both the heavyweights looked in fantastic shape for big guys with Lincoln’s heavy handed Danny Goulding weighting 218lbs and his opponent Nick Riedel jumped on at 233lbs – both of these guys are weighing small for heavyweights but towered over everybody else in the room.

Boston’s unbeaten star James Brown came in at 148lbs and his opponent, Brian Ziede came in a fair bit heavier at 159lbs, but but still came under the weight limit.

Lat on the scales for Team England was World title challenger Rachael Ball also hit a career low of 117lbs and her opponent dawn Solomon was slightly lighter at 115lbs.

With the weigh ins down, all that was left was for the fighters to eat and relax, which they were able to do thanks to show sponsors, McCanns Bar who put on a great spread.

The show is looking great and we can’t thank Bobby Campbell enough for having the team over.

Good luck to everybody fighting tonight – stay tuned for results as they happen.
