Takeover Promotions – Ring Wars at the Lincoln Fight Factory on 28 March 2020
What a card we have made for this event. The promoters of Takeover Promotions have pulled out all of the stops to piece together what they believe is the strongest ‘small hall’ event in the UK in recent years. 28 March there really is no other place in Lincoln that you will want to be at, whether you are a fan of K1 rules kickboxing, boxing or just enjoy a good nights entertainment. Save this date in your diary now!
Priding his shows on very even 50/50 bouts, promoter Shawn Burton has once again pulled out all of the stops to ensure that this event tops any of the previous shows he has put on with some top quality boxing bouts on the event and a K1 rules fight card to end the night featuring fighters from across the UK taking on international fighters from France, Canada and Poland and we are delighted to be bringing it to Lincoln at the George Street based venue.
As always, we start the event with a number of novice fights and work our way up the some truly World Class professional bouts that could headline any event at any venue in the UK, so to have that on a Takeover Promotions event shows that the team are doing something right to tie them down to our shows.
The Main Event of the evening is a mouthwatering bout between two fighters that have fought across the world in the biggest arenas, but both jumped at the chance to feature on the show. A fight between these two nearly happened last year when both opponents pulled out at short notice, but certain circumstances meant the bout failed to materialise. However, promoter Shawn Burton had his heart set on making this happen for the March show and after a couple of phone calls/messages it was confirmed and what a fight it is – UK number 2 at 77kg Dean Pattinson from the Gorilla Gym in Grimsby takes on UK number 1 Wilker Barros from Team Tieu in London over 3×3 minute rounds of professional rules K1 kickboxing.
Chief support to the Pattinson/Barros fight is a bout that brings real glamour to the card when to International fighters, both national champions in their respective countries lock horns in the ring. Polish Champion Maciej Trzesniewski put his name forward after being in the corner for a fighter on our Septmber event and after searching for a suitable opponent we noticed Tyrone Power Jr, head coach of the newly formed Combat Academy branch in Northampton had recently signed Canadian Champion Hassan Sino to his ranks. The fighter couldn’t have worked better for the promoters and it all fell into place – two professional fighers, two national champions, both weighing 85kg and both desperate to fight – the match was made! A 200 strong crowd of Combat fans will be making the journey over to Lincoln so expect some noise from the guys in black and red.
Lincoln Fight Factory’s Piotr Bulczysnki asked us to find him the toughest fight we could find him in his 2nd Professional rules outing. We put a few names to Piotr, but known of them really got him excited until we came back with the current ISKA English Champion and UK ranked number 5 Ash Griffiths from Hartlepool. Piotr has been training in Poland in January, keeping the team regularly updated with his progress and to say he is looking sharp and focused is an understatement. Ash is well known as being a tough, come forward fighter and will certainly be looking to upset Piotr’s vocal crowd on the night. This has all of the ingredients to be an absolute belter of a fight.
We are delighted to welcome back Lyes Marinko to the promotion. Lyes stole the September show with a stunning head kick KO victory over Dom Barnard and we were keen to get him back on. Facing the Kiatphontip man is a name the Takeover fans will be familiar with as an amateur fighter, who is now starting to make a name for himself in the professional ranks. Tommy Crossland from the Combat Academy in Barnsley is a very tidy fighter and like most of the other names on the card, he is as tough as they come. This is a great clash of styles and a fight we are very excited to be promoting. A great clash of Professional K1 rules kickboxing at 68kg.
The final professional rules fight on the card is a Takeover Promotions first – a female bout and what a fight to have make history on the brand. Combat Academy Northampton starlet Bee Kolcak is another of Tyrone Power Jr’s latest signings that he was desperate to get on the card. Female bouts are often hard to match due to the limited number in the pool, even more so at professional level and just as it looked as though we were going to have to give up the idea, in stepped Philip Tieu, head coach of Team Tieu with his fighter Samantha Mcharg-Whyatt. The is a great match up that we hope to use to catapult female fighters on the promotion.
A cadet world title will also be up for grabs on the card. No Takeover Promotions event is complete without the Wonder Kid. Combat Academy in Barnsley have a reputation of producing some of the best cadets in the country, but Mick Crossland has also created arguably the best cadet in the world with Blaine Wilson. A regular feature in the Takeover events Blaine (33-0) will challenge for ISKA K1 Rules World Title at -61kg when he takes on Evan Olivier from France. Evan is the current French champion and has a 36-5 record and the French speak very highly of him. Thanks to Mick and Cédric Balmont for being so easy to deal with in getting another great fight matched.
Also up for grabs is the ISKA K1 English title -35kg in a bout that see’s Lincoln Fight Factory’s Sergio Muris (37-2) make his debut for the gym when he takes on UK number one Stevie Weldrake from the Contender gym in Middlesbrough. This is a massive fight for two very talent kids.
Another feature on our England vs France section of the card for Takeover Promotions see’s Gasan Grindra from the famous Combat Academy in Barnsley trained by Mick Crossland has a real test when he takes on Alex Jeffy from France trained by our good friend Yannick Tamas. Gasan has a brilliant style that has become custom to the Combat Academy fighters and Alex made everybody take notice when he won by TKO on our September event. A great match up over 5×2 minutes rounds of bare shin k1 rules action. This could be fight of the night
Lincoln Fight Factory’s Ed Jarvis looks to take his first title when he challenges for the Takeover Promotions boxing title at -78kg. Ed has been on a great run over the last 18 months, picking up 6 straight wins including a close points win over Ben Andrews from Infliction Gym in Derby. It was so close, the Infliction team wanted a rematch and the chance of making this a title bout made perfect sense. If this is anything like the first fight, the fans are in for a real treat.
The final fight we will touch on in detail is another recent Combat Academy Northampton signing and former Full Contact Kickboxing teenage sensation Romaine Porter makinh his K1 debut for Tyrone New Power Jr’s team when he faces Hamza Lamouri trained by the legendary Jompop Kiatphontip in Leeds. Romaine has had a long time away from the kickboxing ring, but over the last year had a couple of boxing bouts to ease his way back into the ring. As most fighters now, Romaine was seeing that K1 rules kickboxing is the way to go now and we were given the task of trying to find an opponent. We tried a few different avenues to make a match but just when we thought nothing was coming to fruition, Jompop came forward with Hamza. You couldn’t find a tougher debut fight for a fighter than someone from the UK’s leading Thai Boxing gym against a tough and more experienced fighter under a new rule set.
We also have a solid undercard featuring Ondre Roach vs Jody Fullword, Brandon Auld vs Patrick Strzeicki, John Chapman vs Ojars Eskein, Joe Harrison vs Auyne Vaz, Max Poweska vs Marcus Frisby and a British Title fight between Callum Hennesy vs Ubed Hussain makes this a night really not to miss.
All this, plus a live interval performance from UK Grime sensation Blade Brown, this really is a night of entertainment for the whole family. Doors for the Premil event open at 4:30pm with the first bout set for 5:00pm. Tickets are priced at £30 for adults and £20 for under 16’s or a VIP table of 10 is £500.
