Takeover Promotions returns with Ring Wars on 28 August at the Lincoln Fight Factory
It’s a day many feared would never return, certainly not this year anyway but we can finally say we are just 1 month away from our first fight night in over 18 months.
Covid-19 and Government enforced rules and restrictions meant that public events and even sport in general ground to a halt in March 2020, just 1 week before our super show was due to take place, but we are back and we are bigger and better than ever before.
What a card we have made for this event. The promoters of Takeover Promotions have pulled out all of the stops to piece together what they believe is the strongest ‘small hall’ event in the UK in recent years. 28 August there really is no other place in Lincoln that you will want to be at, whether you are a fan of K1 rules kickboxing, boxing or just enjoy a good nights entertainment. Save this date in your diary now!
Priding his shows on very even 50/50 bouts, promoter Shawn Burton has once again pulled out all of the stops to ensure that this event tops any of the previous shows he has put on with some top quality boxing bouts on the event and a K1 rules fight card to end the night featuring fighters from across the UK taking in Professional, Semi-Professional and amateur K1 rules bouts as well as a handful and top quality boxing bouts featuring some of the Lincoln Fight Factory’s top talent and we are delighted to be bringing it to Lincoln at the George Street based venue.
As always, we start the event with a number of novice fights and work our way up the some truly World Class professional bouts that could headline any event at any venue in the UK, so to have that on a Takeover Promotions event shows that the team are doing something right to tie them down to our shows.
The Main Event of the evening is a mouthwatering bout between two fighters that have fought across the world in the biggest arenas, but both jumped at the chance to feature on the show. This is a fight that really could be on any of the biggest stages around the world, featuring two truly world class operators in Professional K1 kickboxing. However, promoter Shawn Burton had his heart set on making this happen when both of the fighters managers put their names forward and after a couple of phone calls/messages it was confirmed and what a fight it is – UK number 3 at 77kg Dean Pattinson from the Gorilla Gym in Grimsby takes on current WBC European Champion Chris Melhuish from Fightworx Gym in Devon over 3×3 minute rounds of professional rules K1 kickboxing.
Chief support to the Pattinson/Melhuish fight is a bout that brings real glamour to the card when two fighters who have both had great success on previous Takeover Promotions events battle it out for the prestigious ISKA Professional English K1 title when Ben Longstaff from Fight Unit in Barnsley battles it out with Pablo Benn from Team Barbarian in London. Fans may remember that pasty red head who went to war with Marcin Durka at our last big event – that was Longstaff. For weeks people spoke about Ben’s performance and how they would love to see him again – well now you can. Standing in Ben’s way is another fighter who is no stranger to our shows in the form of Londoner Pablo Benn. Pablo made his name on our events when who one the 4 man tournament at Deans Leisure Centre 3 years ago. Since then Pablo has gone on to forge a huge name on the circuit and we are delighted to have him return. The fight couldn’t have worked better for the promoters and it all fell into place – two professional fighers, both with title ambitions, both weighing 63.5kg and both desperate to fight – the match was made! Longstaff as a massive support so expect a lot of noise in this fight.
Lincoln Fight Factory’s Piotr Bulczysnki asked us to find him the toughest fight we could find him in his 2nd Professional rules outing. We put a few names to Piotr, but known of them really got him excited until we came back with the current ISKA English Champion and UK ranked number 5 Ash Griffiths from Hartlepool. Piotr has been training in Poland in for the last month, keeping the team regularly updated with his progress and to say he is looking sharp and focused is an understatement. Ash is well known as being a tough, come forward fighter and will certainly be looking to upset Piotr’s vocal crowd on the night. This has all of the ingredients to be an absolute belter of a fight.
The final Professional K1 rules fight on the card see’s two ‘veterans’ of the sport coming out of retirement for one last dance under the lights, but despite their ages, these two can really fight and what better event that this stacked card for them to showcase their skills. Both fighters head their own gyms and both had already put fighters forward for the card, but when Rutland Kickboxing’s former ISKA Commonwealth Champion Danny Byrne expressed his desire to fight there was only ever one man we were going to call on. Up steps Phil Robbins, former Lincoln Fight Factory’s favourite son and now head coach of Sleaford Fight Academy. A win here for either fighter could see them work their way back into the UK rankings and from then on who knows what lays ahead, one thing for sure though is that this will be a great fight, with both guys big ticket sellers and will be wanting to bow out of the sport gracefully if they wish so.
Now on to the Semi-Professional K1 fights and what a fight to lead the card. ECMMA’s undefeated and newly crowned ISKA English Champion Tom Kirk looks to continue is 10 fight winning run when he takes on PCT Gyms Jamie Petch for the ISKA British title over 5×2 minute rounds. This was another fight that was so easy to make and with the records of both of these fighters it had to be for a title. Again, this fight could headline any show, so it is an honour to host this fight and we can’t wait to welcome two new gyms to our events.
The next Semi-Professional K1 title fight see’s Lincoln man Piotr Panczak take on another ECMMA fighter in the form of Aaron Cain. Piotr recently made the move from another gym in Lincoln and has an extremely entertaining fight style and Londoner Cain looks to have the same. We have been working with Piotr for the last few months to combat against Cain’s solid shots and powerful kicks and are confident the title will be staying in Lincoln but at this level anything can happen, one thing for sure is when these to fight for the English title on 28 August you do not want to miss it, this will be a war from the first bell.
Returning to action is Lincoln Fight Factory’s Kraig Green after several years away from the ring, at a new weight and with a new desire to succeed. The former -60kg English Champion is moving up to 73kg to fight Matthew Richardson from the notorious Contender Gym in Middlesborough who only ever produce quality fighters so this is another step up for Kraig, but another challenge we can’t wait to face head on.
Family and Friends fighter Kamil Rutkowski is also in action in a Semi-Professional K1 rules bout when he meets the more experienced Nathan Dryden, also from the Contender Gym in Middlesborough. Kamil is giving away experience but has great ring knowledge and a very composed style and is very excited for the challenge. A strong home crowd will really give him that extra edge in this fight.
We have a solid undercard of amateur rules K1 kickboxing with some brilliant match ups, one in particular really catches the eye and could be a contender fight fight of the night when Musashi’s Alex Krasnov takes on Eagle Kickboxings Marcus French in what is a great clash of styles. Lincoln fighters Jamie Stinton and Max Poweska will also feature on this part of the card as well as fighters from Leicester Kickboxing, Rutland Kickboxing and Sleaford Fight Academy.
No Takeover Promotions show is complete without us showing off the amount of talented boxers that we have in the gym, something that often goes unnoticed due to us being mainly a kickboxing club, so it always always nice to showcase that talent that we do have on these events.
Headlining the boxing card is Dujj Tollerton, who challenge for the 67kg Takeover Promotions boxing title against the extremely talented Reece Bryan from Inspire Boxing Club in Derby. Dujj has aspirations on turning Professional in the future so this fight is a great stepping stone towards that. Dujj asked for the hardest fight we could find and Reece seems to tick all of the boxes with a 7-2 record with some great wins under his belt.
Former amateur superstar Omer Veronnel Tarau will also return to action with the 5 time World Champion meets former Leeds amateur star Mikolaj Kozak. We made a public offer for the very best 70kg fighters in the UK to fight Omer and Mikolaj’s team wasted no time in getting in touch. Another great class of styles between to current promotional boxing champions over 3×2 minute rounds.
A fighter we have very high hopes for is Ojars Eskeins who has rapidly made a name for himself on the circuit, despite his young age and baby face Ojars has been an animal in the ring, disposing of anybody put in front of him in style. Currently with a 5 win record we wanted to step up in class and Kamaran Lynch from Inspire will offer just the test we wanted. Another young fighter we skills beyond his years and a great experience behind him he is just the test we wanted for our golden boy.
Other Lincoln boxers on this show are Finn Cross, Bailey Cooper, Dimitry Jasvin, Igor Lewendowski and Stanislav Durden that all hope to continue there winning runs on August 28th when they meet more fighters from Inspire Boxing Club.
Doors for the event open at 4:00pm with the first bout set for 5:00pm. Tickets are priced at £30 for adults and £20 for under 16’s or a VIP table of 10 is £500.
