Beginners Boxing Course – Week 5 complete
We have now completed the 5th week of our latest beginners boxing course at the Lincoln Fight Factory and this week saw the group given the responsibility to call their own combinations on the pads and improve their countering skills.
So far the course has covered footwork, basic punching techniques, defensive, combinations on the pads, head movement to avoid being hit, fitness and now countering.
On Wednesday 28 of the members we taking through shown some basic punch combinations on the pads, the correct way to hold the pads for their partners and the importance of using free following combinations for their partners to work with.
Friday saw 29 members of the group put through some counter combinations on the pads, specifically looking at countering jabs and hooks with the use of parries and catches and returning fire with the most appropriate shots.
Again it was great work from all the group as we continuously see major improvements from the dedicated students, many of whom have signed up to fight on the 16 July show to raise money for the Lincoln City Youth Academy.
Those who want to fight on the show remember to be at the gym tomorrow at 6pm for your first sparring class and to weigh in.
We are also in the process of taking names for the 3rd edition of the course that starts on Wednesday 27th June. Please email shawn@lincolnkba.co.uk for more information on the classes and to put your name down.
