And the NEW WUMA British Champion is…………

TOMMY SCUTT

Thats right fight fans, Tom Scutt has added the WUMA Amateur British title to is ISKA British title this weekend with a fantastic victory against hometown defending champion Dean ‘Relentless’ Petty by unanimous decision.

Entering the bout at Temple Park in South Shields to sound of ‘Harlem Shake’, he walked into the ring cheers on by the Barmy Army of Lincoln KBA fans, with Martin Barnaby leading the way with a crazy dance.  Tom was fit, hungry and extremely confident.

Petty in the opposite corner, also the current Golden Belt European champion at 69kg was roared on by a ferocious home crowd, all expecting there man to keep his title.

The first round started as expected, Petty forcing the pace, looking to land hooks to the head and body on the inside of Scutt with the Lincoln man replying with straight rear arm straights to the head and left hooks to the body.  Petty was finding it hard to pin down the taller Scutt who was using great ringcraft to avoid a brawl. Petty managed to land a sweet hook that connected and rocked Scutt.

The second was much the same, Scutt very elusive showing lots of skills he picked up from boxing coach, Adam Butler.

Scutt was starting to pull away in the third round, landing some sharp rear leg body kicks to the liver of Petty, however the Northerner seemed unfazed by anything Scutt was landing and continued to push the KBA star onto the back foot.

The fourth and fifth rounds saw Petty docked points for failing to meet the required 8 kick-count rule, as he continued to push Scutt back and land some meaty looking hooks and upper cuts to his chiseled body, trying to force the stoppage he would need if he wanted to keep his title.  A tired Scutt dug deep and became a man, proving that he is more than just a rangy fighter, he can also get into the trenches when he needed to.

At the end of the fifth round both fighters we giving a standing ovation for their battle.  Stood in the middle of the ring, hand in hand with referee Dean Wilson, they waited patiently for the MC to call the decision.

AND THE NEW WUMA BRITISH CHAMPION FROM LINCOLN TOM SCUTT……….

Taking his record to 9-0 and proving he can cut it at European level.  Scutty was also awarded Amateur Fighter of the Night and received £160 for his skills.

Also on the card saw Aaron Robinson facing Craig Carter, also from Spartans Gym, for the vacant WUMA Professional British title at 69kg.

This is a fight that had the kickboxing community talking, with fans being 50/50 about who would lift the title.  However, the fight was over before it got started, with Aaron injuring his arm in the first round.  A gentleman’s agreement has been made for the 2 to meet on our Kickboxing Classics show in October, as has the Scutt vs Petty rematch.

Well done to both fighters from everyone at Lincoln Fight Factory, you continue to make the club and coaching team very proud.
