Aaron Robinson vs Simon ‘Mr KO’ Akufo

Fresh from victory against Martin Sweeney in Newark last Saturday, Lincoln Fight Factory’s Aaron Robinson see’s himself step into the ring and challenge for the WKA Professional Welterweight European Title.

Aaron has landed a second chance to fulfill his world-title dream against former WKA World Champion Simon ‘Mr KO’ Akufo.  If Aaron comes through this fight it would set him up nicely to take on current World Champion Ilya Usachev from Ukraine.  Usachev took the World title with a 5th round stoppage over Akufo last December.

Robinson was stopped byAiden Lafferty and Ryan Edmundson when he fought for the ISKA title in March 2012 and the WRSA title in June the same year respectively but since then the Lincoln fighter has chalked up some nice victories to earned a crack at the WKA European title.

Robinson, 26, is adamant he will not fail again against highly-rated Birmingham man when they clash on 8 June at the Irish Centre in Digbeth, Birmingham.

“This is a golden opportunity for me and I feel it’s my time to shine,” said the former World title challenger..

“It’s been a tough journey for me, but I’m two or three fight’s away from realising my dream and becoming world champion.”

“I’ve dedicated my entire life to this sport and since the Ryan Edmondson fight I really feel like I’ve grown as a fighter. I can’t wait to bring that WKA European title back to the Lincoln.”

“Akufo has been in with some of the best fighters in Europe and has knockout power as his name suggests, but Aaron has a great chin, boxing skills and power of his own, this is a fantastic fight,” said Aaron’s coach Shawn Burton.

“Simon has to be one of the toughest opponents Aaron has faced on paper, but Aaron has been in the ring with and beat world titlists and it remains to be seen whether or not Akufo can offer up anything extra,” he continued..

There is a coach going from the gym if anyone wishes to support Aaron, but be quick as the coach is limited to 50 seats.
