Aaron Robinson to fight for ISKA World Title
News just in: Lincoln KBA’s Aaron Robinson’s recent success in the ring has landed him a shot at the ISKA World title against Ireland’s Aidan “Lights Out” Lafferty, the current ISKA Commonwealth Champion.
The fight over 12×2 minute rounds is set for the 31st March 2012, just a week after the next Kickboxing Classics Event at Yarborough Leisure Centre, where Shawn Burton and Callum Thompson challenge for the ISKA British titles at 64.5kg and 78.5kg respectively.
Aaron’s coach, former ISKA European Champion Shawn Burton, spoke about the great opportunity Aaron has in front of him, “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for most fighters, Aaron has to grit his teeth and get into a fierce training regime, for what will be a tough, tough fight.”
“I am real proud of some of the things Aaron has been able to accomplish since teaming up with me to run Lincoln KBA and the massive step up in class and confidence he has shown since we opened the Lincoln Fight Factory together.”
Aaron also spoke of his excitment for the trip to Ireland, “Fighting for a world title is any fighters dream, Shawn has had some great opportunities over the last few years, fighting in New York, France, Ireland, Latvia and Italy for the top titles in the world and now its my turn. It’s a shame I won’t be on the next Kickboxing Classics Promotion on 24th March 2012 as fighting in front of my home crowd when everyone is excited and cheering you on is the best feeling
“We don’t know a great deal about him (Lafferty), but Shawn is the best young coach in the country, he is very much like Freddy Roach in boxing, he has the skill to pick any opponent apart and give the the tools and the confidence to deliver a winning performance in the ring, me and a lot of the team call Shawn ‘The Doctor,’ Aaron joked.
We wish Aaron all of the best on the 31st March and hope he brings another title to the ever growing collection at the Lincoln Fight Factory.
