Blade Brown

Takeover Promotions confirm UK Rapper as special guest to perform at Takeover Promotions – Ring Wars

The excitement around the 28 March 2020 event has been huge as the Takeover Promotions team have been releasing some of the Main Event fights for the night, but nothing has created the amount of excitement and anticipation as who will be the guest performer for the night.

On the back of our fantastic September event with Big Tobz, promoter Shawn Burton got straight back in to the office to search out potential names for the next performer.  When choosing performers several things need to be considered, such as the atmosphere at the event and the sort of music needed for the crowd, the relevance of the performer and if it is something the fans will enjoy – we are pretty sure  that this name will tick all of the boxers.

The team are delighted to announce that a name that was brought up numerous times as people had been guessing who the mystery performer was and now we can finally put everybody as peace and tell you all that we have secured one of the hottest prospects in UK Rap music – Blade Brown will be performing during the interval on the night.

Who is Blade Brown?

Despite being dubbed ‘the king of UK trap’ by respected stateside publications Complex and XXL, South Londoner Blade Brown remains one of the most underrated rappers in the game.

First emerging onto the scene in the mid-2000s with a slew of influential mixtapes, collaborating with titans such as Wretch 32, Giggs, Skepta, Youngs Teflon, Chip and G FrSH, it was 2011’s Financial Times that saw Blade demonstrate the full extent of his ability. Delivering a hard-hitting dose of social realism, the release would go on to win both ‘Mixtape of the Year’ and ‘Best Hip Hop Mixtape’ at the Official Mixtape Awards.

“The word ‘independent’ gets thrown around, often inaccurately and often next to names who are simply too small to be anything but independent. Not Blade Brown, though,” Trench Magazine enthused. “Without management or PR, Blade has dropped a whole bunch of highly-rated, full-length projects – Financial Times, Hollow Meets Blade, and three volumes of Bags & Boxes – but he is by no means a lone wolf, bringing out the best in everyone he partners up with.”

More recently, he has linked up with young artists pushing the UK scene forward – including Fredo, Headie One and Tiggs Da Author – using his experience and natural talent to guide the next generation. There’s new Blade Brown material in the pipeline too, with the first cut from forthcoming project Bags & Boxes 4 recently released. After a few years away from music, Blade is now ready to decorate road rap’s table with those really-lived experiences – a table that’s all-to-often littered with fairy tales.

“My life is what I write,” he explains. “I rap about real things and that’s what keeps me in my own lane. I love this, and that’s why I tell my story.”

Drawing comparisons to street poets from across the Atlantic such as Gucci Mane and Young Jeezy, it seems like only a matter of time before the name Blade Brown is held in a similar regard.

Tickets for The Kumite are now on sale with VIP Table’s of 10 costing £500 and standard tickets are £30 for adults and £20 for under 16’s.  This will be yet another sell out event at the Lincoln Fight Factory so please do not delay in getting your tickets and call 07900 932 690 to book yours.
