Shawn Burton to fight in New York
We are now into the final week of training ahead of Shawn Burton’s eagerly anticipated rematch with Bobby Campbell in Long Island, New York.
These two met 4 years ago, with Bobby taking the win for the WKA World title and is a rematch Shawn and his team have been working towards since then.
Shawn is coming off a 4th round stoppage 3 weeks ago against Edward Bettison and Bobby is coming off a loss in his WKA and ISKA World title unification bout in August.
The fight will be fought over 8×2 minute rounds and Shawn is more than ready to get back in the ring.
“When we met 4 yours ago I was very naive. I made a few mistakes in the build up to the fight with my food and drink intake after weigh in and I paid the price in the ring. The first 3 rounds were going great and then things started to go wrong for me,” said Burton.
“We now know first hand how Bobby fights so we have been getting sparring partners in who have a similar style to him and have been working on certain aspects of my game that we think will bring home the victory.”
“I know this is another tough fight for me to have immediately after my last fight, but fighting Bobby Campbell in New York was too good an opportunity to turn down,” Burton added.
Shawn will have Aaron Robinson and Adam Butler in his corner who will be there to advise Shawn every step of the fight and they have all been working together closely to devise the correct training programme for Shawn.
“We have been doing a lot of core strength and explosive power work these last 3 works, lots of morning runs and some good, hard sparring against southpaws with a come forward style. Hopefully, all of this will pay dividends on in New York and I can end the year with another nice victory and celebrate a very good Christmas,” continued Shawn.
If all goes to plan and Shawn comes through this, his next fight is in South Africa in February 2014.
Good luck Shawn from everybody at Lincoln Fight Factory.
