National Lottery backed Health Kick Project coming the the Lincoln Fight Factory – starting Monday 12 May 2025

More classes coming to the Lincoln Fight Factory thanks to the backing of the National Lottery Community Fund

This latest project run by Lincoln Kickboxing Academy Ltd is all thanks to the help and support from The National Lottery Community Fund, who have once again seen our vision to make Lincoln a fitter and safer place to live.

The National Lottery Community Fund is the largest community-focused grant funder in the UK. It distributes money raised by National Lottery players to support a wide range of projects that strengthen communities and improve lives. Their backing enables grassroots organisations like ours to deliver real change, especially in areas where access to support and services can be limited.

Their support is vital—not only does it allow us to expand our reach and improve our facilities, but it also ensures that important projects like Health Kick are free from the financial barriers that often prevent participation. Thanks to their funding, we can provide a consistent, professional and inclusive training environment where individuals can gain confidence, improve their physical and mental health and feel part of a supportive community.

Health Kick: Improving Lives Through Kickboxing Training

The Health Kick Project is a structured kickboxing training programme designed to support individuals experiencing mental health difficulties in Lincolnshire’s most deprived areas. By concentrating on physical training and personal development, Health Kick offers an effective approach to enhancing both physical and mental well-being.

Kickboxing: A Practical Method for Mental and Physical Health

Kickboxing is a full-body workout that improves strength, coordination, stamina and mental focus. Each session is structured to deliver clear physical benefits and psychological improvements, making it well suited for individuals managing stress, anxiety and low confidence.

The training programme is delivered in four groups over 40 weeks in two 20-week cycles. Each session includes:

  • 45 minutes of kickboxing training, covering basic techniques, controlled practice and physical conditioning.
  • 15 minutes of group discussion after training, focusing on mental health topics and goal-setting.
  • Every other session includes individual consultations with a nutritionist to provide personalised dietary advice.

Physical Benefits of Kickboxing

  1. Increased Fitness and Strength – Participants build muscle tone, cardiovascular health and flexibility through regular training.
  2. Better Coordination and Balance – Movements in kickboxing improve reflexes and motor control which benefit overall physical ability.
  3. Higher Energy Levels – Consistent exercise helps reduce fatigue and promotes greater daily activity.
  4. Stress Reduction – The physical nature of kickboxing helps reduce tension and symptoms of depression supporting better mental health.

Mental Health Improvements

  1. Confidence Building – As participants develop their technique and fitness they report increased self-belief and motivation.
  2. Reduced Anxiety – Training offers a reliable outlet for dealing with stress and emotional challenges.
  3. Improved Focus and Routine – The structure of weekly sessions supports discipline and consistency useful in managing mental health.
  4. Peer Support – Training in groups encourages mutual encouragement and accountability.

Why This Approach is Effective

Kickboxing is well suited to those dealing with mental health issues because it combines physical effort with clear achievable goals. Unlike some forms of exercise it is interactive and engaging which helps participants maintain interest and remain committed.

Many past participants found that training quickly became an important part of their week. Improvements in physical ability led to greater confidence and better lifestyle choices such as improved sleep and diet.

The programme is suitable for all levels of fitness. Beginners are given simple step-by-step instruction while those with more experience are encouraged to develop their skills further. Each participant is supported to improve at their own pace.

Clear Outcomes and Measurable Progress

Health Kick provides a clear structure with defined goals. Participants are encouraged to track their progress and reflect on their development. The programme focuses on helping individuals gain practical skills and experience positive changes in both body and mind.

Through this combination of structured training and consistent support Health Kick continues to deliver real lasting improvements to people’s lives. Kickboxing is more than exercise in this context—it is a reliable method for improving health increasing confidence and building a more active and stable lifestyle.
