Georgia Deakin wins British title at Kickboxing Classics – Grudge Match

It is with great pleasure that the Lincoln Fight Factory can had another title to the gym thanks to Georgia ‘Pocket Rocket’ Deakin’s sensational performance at Kickboxing Classics – Grudge Match to capture the ISKA British title with a solid points win over Saxon’s Lucie Callan.

In a punch perfect performance from Georgia made sure the title stayed in Lincoln  thanks to fluid hand and feet combinations, striking with precision to her game Birmingham opponent.

The fight for the 42.5kg title over 5×2 minute rounds started at a very fast pace, with Deakin taking control of the centre of the ring, landing rib crunching body kicks to her opponent.

Georgia dropped Lucie in round for with a strong roundhouse kick to the ribs, with Lucie being forced to take an 8 count, but with every other shot landed, Callan dusted herself off and came back for more, to which Georgia happily replied,

After 5 rounds the score card reflected the dominance for Georgia performance as they read Judge A – 50-44, Judge B – 50-45 and Judge C – 50-45, all in favour of  and the new ISKA British Champion Georgia ‘Pocket Rocket’ .

Georgia is by far one of the gyms most talented fighters and is destined for World Title honors – a big statement and a lot of pressure to put on a 12 year old, but coaches Shawn Burton and Aaron Robinson are more than happy to put their money where their mouths are and make these big fights happen.

Elsewhere on the sellout show, Lincoln favourite Lee Coult bowed out on his fight career with a second round knockout over good friend George Gill under low kick rules in the heavyweight division.

The fight, originally billed as just a charity bout, built up so much interest in the city and was one of the main reasons the show was a sell out.  Supporters travelled from all over the country for this fight and both fighters had trained extremely hard for it.

Coult started the fight of with clear intentions of a knock out when he landed a beautiful lead leg roundhouse kick to the face off Gill before some tasty looking leg kicks.

Gill tried to force his way back into the fight with his boxing skills but it was a spinning back kick,  left hook combination that ended the fight in the 2nd round, much to the delight of Coult’s large army of fans.

It was a great fight, between true great friend for a great cause – The Ethan Maull ‘Up Yours to cancer’ Foundation.

Also on the card at the Lincoln Fight Factory was rising star Craig Rainey who made it 4 wins on the spin with a points victory of UMA’s Rokkus Venkus, his second victory over Venkus, this time under boxing rules.

Rob Love kept his unbeaten record with a second round stoppage over Jak Coyne from Walsall.  Rob is starting to look like a massive prospect for the gym, so keep your eye out for him.

The popular Jola Gornicki made a very promising debut with a points victory over UMA’s Tiffany Skinner and at long last Graham Rainey got his first win in his 4th outing with a points win over Kings Lynn boxer Travis Malkin.  Graham dropped Malkin twice in the fight to take a clear points victory.

It wasn’t all good for the home gym with Wiktor Gornicki, Alfie Hartley, Kraig Green and George Sheldon on the wrong end of the decisions, but they all gave it there all and did the gym proud.

Finally it was a bad ending for 16 year old Ben Cottard, who suffered a change of opponent and rules on the day of the fight, having to box 20 year old Scott Moses and giving away 6kgs.  Ben, who is an extremely talented fighter, started the fight looking very sharp, landing on shots on Moses at will, before a shoulder dislocation halted the fight in the first round.

Thanks to all the fighters, coaches, supporters and the great team at Lincoln Fight Factory for helping to set up the show and make sure it all ran smoothly and the officials from the ISKA.

The next show is penciled in for July, so stay tuned for more information.
