Cook pulls out of European title fight with Shawn Burton
Lincoln Fight Factory owner, Shawn Burton, is left without a fight tomorrow night as bitter rival Steven Cook pulls out of the European title fight at North Kesteven Leisure Centre.
Cook has injured his knee and although Shawn wishes him a speedy recovery, he can’t help but hide is disappointment and have several reasons to doubt the pull out.
Burton and Cook do not hide the fact they dislike each other and neither has been quite about this since their fight in February when the pair met in Kent for the IKF British title, a fight that was ended in the 3rd round to a clash of heads.
Both has said how much they want to get it back on and personal insults, promises about how they will end the fight and what they will move onto after the victory. That was until this fight. Cook has been unusually quite in the build up, and Burton had raised these concerns to various people.
Shawn now promises that the 8 weeks of intensive training will not go to waist and insisting he will not ‘fall off the wagon,’ he promises to use that as and extended camp for his ISKA European title challenge against Bertrand Fleuret at the Lincolnshire Showground on the 10th November 2012.
Still on the Jez Hall tribute show at NK are Tom Scutt, Matty Parker, Jordan McLoughin and Andy Barnaby and with Shawn’s army of fans still attending, Lincoln KBA will still have around 100 supporters in the crowd cheering the team on. it promises to be a great night.
