Kickboxing Classics – Nowhere to Hide UPDATE
The show its self is something that I am really looking forward to, in my opinion it is the best and most exciting line up we have had so far, the main event of Callum Thompson, Lincoln KBA and Guy Johnson, Felling Warriors in Newcastle for the ISKA Super Middleweight amateur title is bigger than the legendary battle between two world champions on my last show Ireland’s Gary Hamilton and Sunderland’s Michael ‘Robbie’ Johnson on my last show.
For me Callum is the most improved British fighter of 2011 and is destined to become a world champion by the end of 2013, Guy on the other hand is strong, confident and most importantly, yet to taste defeat. This will be a tactical performance from Callum if he is to beat Guy who I know will come out all guns blazing looking for an early stoppage. Both of these guys we victorious on my last promotion, so I know the fans will be in for a treat, this has fight of 2012 written all over it.
Elsewhere on the card, which features no less that 14 hometown fighters, we have a battle between two young, hungry and undefeated fighters. Both Tom Scutt, Lincoln KBA and Gurinder Mandiar, M1K in Derby have 4 wins from 4 contests so as the old saying goes – someone’s 0 has to go, expect fireworks in this contest set at 72.5kg
We have a nice boxing fight on the card to. Lincoln KBA’s Jordan McLoughin, who has won both his boxing fights by stoppage steps up in class to fight Ryan Enright from Knox Boxing in Sheffield. This fight is over 4×2 minute rounds at 66kg.
The show also features Britain’s two best 57kg full contact kickboxers when Scotland’s Marc Dixon meets County Durham’s Andrew Harris over 5 rounds to determine who is Britain’s number 1. Again, both of these won on the last Kickboxing Classics event.
Another first for Kickboxing Classics is the promotion of our first Muay Thai fight. Lincoln’s Luke Iwankiw steps up in class to face Leicester’s Fads Maniar under C-Class Thai rules, This contest always kicks to the legs and knees to the head. I think the fans will love this fight as both fighters have a very nice style.
A nice pro fight is also set between Wolverhampton’s Eddie Betterson and Coventry’s Brett Healey. Aaron Robinson stopped Eddie on the last show and Shawn Burton was due to fight Brett for the ISKA British title only for an injury in his last contest to rule him out of action. Talks to reschedule the contest are already under way.
Also appearing on the card for Lincoln KBA are Timo McGuire, Wiktor Gornicki, Tomasz Gawlik, Gareth Eades, Dan Travis, Sergio Garcia, James Shepherd, Scott Brewer, Piotr Bulczynski and Andy Barnaby.
Anybody wanting tickets please ring Shawn Burton on 07900932690. Tickets are priced at £20 for standard and £35 for VIP. Doors open at 5pm and first fight is at 6pm.
Elsewhere in the Lincoln Fight Factory we have Aaron Robinson travelling to Derry, Ireland to fight for the ISKA World title on 31st March, Shawn Burton challenging for the ISKA British title on 21st April in Leicester, Callum Thompson fighting in Waterford, Ireland on 26th May to fight for IFK 5 Nations title and on the 4th May we have something very, very special. A training session with legendary former WBC World Super Middleweight boxing champion Nigel Benn in the afternoon and then in the evening an evening with Nigel Benn including a meet and great, a 3 course meal and a 6 bout fight card featuring some of Lincoln’s best kickboxers, MMA and MuayThai fighters. This is an event not to be missed, again anyone wanting tickets or more information should call Shawn on 07900932690 or visit www.lincolnkba.co.uk.
